Rallies｜Tennis Organizer

Rallies: a tennis rally, and rallying people together. A bot so nobody has to be the organizer.

English (30 sec)

Organizing tennis is a lot of work: booking the court, getting people, chasing who can't come, collecting money, deciding who plays with whom. I built a Telegram bot that does it. You just tap Join. If it's full you go on the waitlist, and when someone drops out the bot offers the spot to the next person. At the deadline, if we don't have enough players, the bot asks whether to cancel or post on Facebook. For payment it shows the ABA QR of whoever booked the court and keeps track of who has paid. On the day it makes doubles pairs so everyone rests the same number of times. The organizer just taps Approve.

Bot

Will the bot cancel games or take money on its own?
No. Nothing happens until an organizer taps Approve. Later each action can be switched to automatic. Money never goes through the bot.

Where do I pay?
Directly to the ABA of the person who booked the court. The bot only shows the QR and records who has paid. You tap I paid, the booker checks their ABA and confirms.

How much per person?
(Court fee + 2 new balls per court) / players, rounded up to $0.50. The extra goes to the ball fund. Example: $20 court, 5 players, $1.50 per ball -> $5 each ($4 court + $1 balls).

Is the lineup fair?
Everyone gets the same playing time. Rest counts differ by at most one, nobody rests twice in a row, and the same pairs are avoided. Late arrivals go in first.

What if someone arrives late or leaves early?
The organizer taps Re-plan and the bot rebuilds the remaining rounds with whoever is there.

Telegram

What about people who don't use Telegram?
The organizer adds them by name with /guest. People who came from Facebook too.

Facebook

Can it post to Facebook automatically?
No. Facebook shut down group posting for outside apps in April 2024. The bot writes the post in English and Khmer, and you paste it.

What about cancelling?
Free until the free-cancel time (6pm the day before), shown on the card. After that you can still tap Leave and your spot opens for the waitlist, but you still pay.

Is it in Khmer?
English, Japanese and Khmer. The Khmer is machine-translated, so please tell me if anything reads strangely.

How long is one game assumed to be?
20 minutes for now. We measure the first time and record it with /gametime; the bot then uses the average.
